Introduction

The pervasive connectivity of the Internet and the powerful architecture of WWW have created a tremendous opportunity for conducting business on Internet. The terms e-commerce and e-business have been used to describe those systems and technologies that make conducting business on Internet possible. The purpose of this workshop is to identify and to explore the technical issues and solutions for e-commerce. In particular, we are interested in the dependability and real-time properties of e-commerce. To our opinion, these two topics are the most challenging and the most critical for the success of future e-commerce systems. However, they have not received enough attention from the Internet industry

The DARE'98 workshop is to be a forum for free exchange of ideas. Particularly welcome are reports on experimental work, experience with current standards and position papers addressing current and future needs of e-commerce systems. Topics for submission include but are not limited to:
