I began writing these pages on Orvieto, my hometown, as an exercise on HTML coding at the end of the summer 1994. Since then a lot of people have accessed them with an average of ten virtual tourists a day in the last few months. Here are some relevant dates:

• Nov. 7, 1994 The first Orvieto pages were linked to the WWW.
• Nov. 28, 1994 The first virtual visitor signed the Guestbook.
• Dec. 5, 1994 An article was posted on rec.travel.europe indicating the URL of the Orvieto's page.
• Mar. 10, 1995 The pages were linked to CityNet.
• Oct. 30, 1995 A first attempt was made to create a 3-D map of Orvieto using VRML. 3D Orvieto (you must have a 3-D browser installed, such as WebSpace).
