ECE Graduate Programs: Concentration in
Computer Networks and Distributed Computing
This concentration involves M.S. and Ph.D. study related to the design and
evaluation of computer networks and distributed computer systems. Computer
networks are studied both as stand-alone systems and as central parts of
larger computing systems.
Education and research in this concentration include, but are not
limited to, the following areas:
- protocols for computer communications
- performance modeling and analysis of computer networks
- design of hardware and software for computer networks
- computer network reliability, fault tolerance, and security
- real-time computer communications
- distributed operating systems concepts and design
- distributed software architectures
- distributed databases and data mining
- parallel computing on networks of PCs/workstations
- programming languages for parallel/distributed processing
- fault-tolerant real-time distributed computing systems
Program requirements will soon be available through a link to the 98-99 UCI
Catalogue.
