General Information

Fundamental information is obtained from simplified systems that mimic a specific behavior of interest in more complex systems. Spray combustion, gas burners, ventilation systems and biomedical environments are examples. Generally, non-intrusive laser diagnostics are used to probe the simplified systems, and in many cases analytical and numerical simulations are developed in conjunction with the experiments to provide insight into influencing factors.
